Gaelbhratach bronnta ar an scoil / Gaelbhratach awarded to the school

Gaelbhratach 1

Bronnadh stádas an Ghaelbhrataigh ar Choláiste Mhuire mar aitheantas ar an sárobair atá déanta acu an Ghaeilge a chur chun cinn agus a úsáid sa scoil. Bronnadh an t-aitheantas speisialta orthu ag searmanas i gColáiste Phádraig, Droim Conrach le déanaí. Chuir Eoghan McDermott (2fm) agus Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh (RTÉ) an t-imeacht i láthair.

Tá sé mar aidhm ag scéim “An Ghaelbhratach” úsáid agus feasacht na Gaeilge a chur chun cinn. Bhí bliain ghnóthach ag coiste na Gaeilge sa scoil, a bhfuil ionadaithe air ó na bliainghrúpaí éagsúla, ag cuidiú le tréan mór imeachtaí a reáchtáil ina measc, Gaeilge 24, Rith 2016, An Céilí Mór, Abair, tráth na gceist tras-scoile, An Fhéile Scoildrámaíochta, Lá an Fhorógra agus Seachtain na Gaeilge, mar aon le neart comórtais agus gníomhaíochtaí eile. Tá na comharthaí ar fad inár scoil nua dátheangach anois fosta, rud a chuaigh i bhfeidhm go mór ar na moltóirí agus a chuireann go mór le cur chun cinn na Gaeilge sa scoil. Bhí toradh iontach ar an obair dhian ar fad a rinneadh agus is féidir leis an gcoiste bheith thar a bheith bródúil. Maith sibh!

Gaelbhratach 2

St. Mary’s College has been awarded the esteemed “Gaelbhratach” status in recognition of its excellence in the promotion of and the use of the Irish language in the school community. It was awarded the special status at a ceremony in St. Patrick’s College in Dromcondra recently. Eoghan McDermott (2fm) and Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh (RTÉ) hosted the event.

The Gaelbhratach scheme aims to encourage the use of and create greater awareness of the Irish language. The Gaelbhratach committee in the school, which has representatives from the various year groups, had a busy year helping to organise many activities to promote the language including Gaeilge 24, Rith 2016, An Céilí Mór, Abair, an inter-school quiz, An Fhéile Scoildrámaíochta, Proclamation Day and Seachtain na Gaeilge, as well as various other Irish language competitions and activities. All signage in our new school building is also now bi-lingual which hugely impressed the judges and greatly contributes to the promotion of the Irish language in the school. All this hard work culminated in the awarding of the Gaelbhratach for which the committee can justly be proud. Maith sibh!

DSC_0126  DSC_0129

Bhí Seachtain na Gaeilge spleodrach i gColáiste Mhuire i mbliana. I measc na himeachtaí a eagraíodh chuir daltaí dráma ar an stáitse i bhFéile Scoildrámaíochta Dhún Dealgan, ghlac siad páirt in Rith 2016, eagraíodh Tráth na gCeist leis na ranganna éagsúla agus bhí comórtas ann idir na múinteoirí agus na daltaí do na Gaeilgeoirí is fearr! Chomh maith le sin rinneadh comóradh ar 1916 nuair a léadh amach an forógra as Gaeilge agus ardaíodh bratach na hÉireann sa scoil.

St. Mary’s College had a jam-packed Seachtain na Gaeilge this year. Amongst the events organised students performed a drama on stage in Féile Scoildrámaíochta Dhún Dealgan, we took part in Rith 2016, quizzes were organised with the different classes and there was a competition amongst teachers and students for the best Gaeilgeoirí! We also commemorated 1916, reading the proclamation out as Gaeilge and raised the Irish national flag in the school.
