Maths Week 2016 at St. Mary’s College

A big thank you to all who participated in Maths Week 2016. Students tested their mathematical knowledge, problem solving skills and rational thought process during a series of fun and intriguing quizzes, puzzles and treasure trails.
A huge congratulations to all who contributed to making this such a successful week and congratulations to all the worthy winners.
Looking forward already to Maths Week 2017.

Bua i gComórtas Díospóireachta Gael Linn / Win in Gael Linn Debating Competition

Bhí an bua ag Coláiste Mhuire i gComórtas Díospóireachta an Phiarsaigh i nDroim Rí i gCo. na Mí ar na maillibh. Bhí an rún “Ba cheart deireadh a chur leis na Cluichí Oilimpeacha” á phlé acu. Bhí iomaíocht láidir ann ar an lá agus iad i gcoinne Coláiste na hInse, Meánscoil Naomh Lughaidh agus De La Salle. Bhí Coláiste Mhuire ar son an rúin agus chuir siad argóintí láidir os comhair an slua a chuaigh i bhfeidhm go mór ar na moltóirí. Bhí an-áthas ar an bhfoireann lena mbua agus rachaidh siad ar aghaidh go dtí an chéad bhabhta eile anois. Is iad Robert Mee-Lucey, Jack Lambert agus Caitlín Rooney na baill den fhoireann díospóireachta.

St. Mary’s College were victorious in Gael Linn’s Irish language debating competition ‘Comórtas an Phiarsaigh’ in Droim Rí Co. Meath recently. They discussed the motion “The Olympic Games should be abolished”. There was strong competition on the day with the school competing against Coláiste na hInse, St. Louis and De La Salle. St. Mary’s College were for the motion and made strong arguments which impressed the judges. The team were delighted with their win and will now go on to the next round. The members of the debating team are Robert Mee-Lucey, Jack Lambert and Caitlín Rooney.
